What is Sexual Assault?

Sexual assault is any type of unwanted sexual contact or behavior. Those who sexually abuse can be anyone: family, acquaintances, trusted individuals, partners or strangers.

Sexual Assault Services

Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) offers confidential support, advocacy and counseling to survivors regardless of age or when the assault occurred. Therapists will provide information, options and advocacy for medical, legal, safety, housing and financial needs; and help you connect to community resources. We are here to walk beside you on your personal journey of healing and hope. You are strong. You are a survivor.

Who we serve

WRCNM acknowledges that sexual abuse can affect individuals regardless of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, disability, or socioeconomic status and provides inclusive services to all survivors including but not limited to:

  • Child survivors who have been sexually abused
  • Adult survivors who have been sexually abused as children
  • Survivors who have been sexually abused as adults
  • Survivors who have been sexually abused in an intimate partner relationship
  • Parents/caregivers/siblings of children who have been sexually abused
