More than four decades ago a group of compassionate, forward-thinking women took action to create an organization that would fill a void in social services needs in northern Lower Michigan for women and children. From those roots grew an organization that has continued to expand and today offers a wide array of services to clients in Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet and Otsego counties. Most of the services that were instituted in 1977 are still being offered and utilized today.
Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan was founded by people willing to give their time and skills to make our community a better place. Through the support of volunteers, the organization is able to provide life-changing services to thousands of northern Michigan residents each year.
Comprehensive training is provided for all volunteer positions. Volunteers must be 18 or older, should be open minded to differing personal values and possess sensitivity to the dynamics of domestic abuse, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and violence against women.
