Artist in Residency Program in Good Hart

Good Hart Artist Residency main house 300x200

The Good Hart Artist Residency program in Good Hart, Michigan offers 2-3 week residencies to dedicated visual artists and writers. The residency provides a live/work studio space, food, and a quiet setting to concentrate on creative work. The residency works in partnership with several local community organizations, including the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan. Our mission is to connect artists and writers from around the world with the local community to inform, educate and empower people through art in the natural beauty of Northern Michigan.

Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan would like to collaborate with an artist or writer in a socially engaged art event in the community. Artist or writer provides stand-alone workshop, or in combination with a ‘Farm to Table’ dinner, to inspire attendees in the artist’s or writer’s medium-of-choice and how to use this medium to create an image or written work that addresses the following question:

How would you conceptualize a world where all men and boys are loving and respectful and all women and girls are valued and safe?

The art created during the workshop will be combined to create an art installation that will be displayed within WRCNM’s 5-county service area during October’s Domestic Abuse Awareness Month and/or April’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The residency includes:

  • A two or three week residency stay
  • A live/work studio space
  • Breakfast and lunch foods will be stocked in the studio apartment and dinners offered by the host family 3-4 times per week -great food! We provide locally sourced ingredients and seasonal vegetables from an onsite garden when available.
