The Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) was one of several local organizations to be presented with funds donated by the Boyne Valley Lions Club during their meeting on December 3. Their $200 contribution to the WRCNM will help support Safe Home needs.

The Safe Home is the emergency shelter providing refuge, meals, support and advocacy to women and children facing the perils of domestic abuse. Last year, the Safe Home provided a secure, supportive, caring residence and more than 8,700 meals to 140 women and children. During the same timeframe, an additional 438 individuals not residing at the Safe Home utilized support, counseling and advocacy services. All services and support for survivors is provided by the WRCNM at no cost.

The Boyne Valley Lions Club was chartered in 1968 with the mission to aid the blind, serve those in need and play an active charitable role in the communities they serve. To learn more, contact Cliff Carey, Membership Chair, at (231) 582-7861.
