Deputy Supernault earns recognition
Deputy John Supernault of the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office received the Excellence in Service Award presented by the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) to recognize his work in promoting domestic violence victim safety and offender accountability. John Supernault, a deputy with the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, received the Excellence in Service Award for his work responding to and investigating domestic abuse cases. Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) recognizes law enforcement officers with the award in the five counties they serve as part of October’s Domestic Abuse Awareness Month.
Cheboygan County Sheriff, Dale V. Clarmont is proud Supernault was recognized this year by WRCNM for his work. “The Women’s Resource Center is an invaluable resource for Law Enforcement in Northern Michigan and we thank them for what they do on a daily basis,” said Clarmont. “I look forward to our continued corroboration in assisting our efforts to assist those in need.”
Cheboygan County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Melissa Goodrich also had praise for Supernault, “Deputy John Supernault has been serving Cheboygan County for over a decade now and has thoroughly investigated several domestic violence cases. He handles the cases with compassion and will go the extra mile to make sure the victims and their children are safe. He is an incredible asset to our community.”
WRCNM Counselor/Advocate, Amber Whitmore-Michel said Supernault’s hard work and service to domestic abuse survivors is appreciated. “Deputy Supernault has earned this years’ Excellence in Service award by showing significant empathy and compassion to survivors of domestic abuse. He has proven to be a valuable resource for survivors throughout the investigation process and I am grateful that we have officers such as Deputy Supernault in our community.”
WRCNM counselor/advocates select Excellence in Service award recipients from Cheboygan, Emmet, Otsego, Charlevoix and Antrim counties that have demonstrated a strong knowledge and understanding of responding to, investigating and supporting survivors of domestic violence. Other honorees for the 2018 Excellence in service award are: Sgt. Rich Bankey, Emmet County Sheriff’s Office; Deputy Joseph Tath, Otsego County Sheriff’s Office; Officer Christie Hoenicke, Boyne City Police Department; and Deputy Brian LaGrandeur, Antrim County Sheriff’s Office.
