More than a hundred volunteers support the Women Can/Women Do – Emmet County fundraising luncheon held at Bay Harbor Yacht Club-Lange Center from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 12. The annual event raises dollars to support Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan programs and services.

“Committee members work several months in advance to plan and prepare for this largest fundraiser of the year,” said Gail Kloss, WRCNM executive director. The event attracts more than 500 attendees who enjoy a silent auction, beautifully designed tables and lunch while catching up with friends and making new acquaintances. According to Kloss, the success of the Women Can/Women Do fundraiser is directly related to the work of volunteer committee members, table designers and the table captains who reach out to friends, family and business associates to fill seats at their table.

Women Can/Women Do guests are greeted with a feast for the eyes with 61 uniquely and elaborately designed tables. “This is our 18th year for Women Can/Women Do in Emmet County and every year the table designers come up with new and remarkable ideas for decorating the tables,” said Kloss. “It’s a highlight for guests to walk through and take it all in before sitting down to enjoy lunch.”

Local businesses that have volunteered to design a table, to date, include: A.R. Pontius Flower Shop, American Spoon Foods, Bay Harbor Yacht Club, BearCub Outfitters, Between the Covers, Brown Motors, Cottage Interiors, Cutler’s, Designs by Dawn, Drost Landscape Design and Construction, Evening Star Joinery, Flowers From Sky’s the Limit, Gold Mine Resale Shops, Kelly Paulsen Interior Design, Little Traverse Tileworks, McLean & Eakin Booksellers, Meyer Ace Home & Hardware, North Central Michigan College, Northern Community Mediation, Northgoods, Odawa Casino Resort, Petoskey Cheese, Rocking Horse Toy Company, Simply Sweet by Jessica, Somebody’s Gallery, Sturgeon River Pottery, The Spa at Boyne Mountain, Three Pines Studio, TJ Marble and Granite and Walloon Lake Winery.

Women Can/Women Do – Emmet County will take place at the Bay Harbor Yacht Club-Lange Center 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 12.
