Oleson’s Food Stores in Petoskey and Charlevoix are holding a ‘Dollar Drive’ fundraiser for the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan’s (WRCNM) Safe Home, November 11-22. The Safe Home provides 24/7 safe shelter, meals and support services to survivors of domestic abuse and their children in Emmet, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Otsego and Antrim counties.
“Oleson’s Dollar Drive donations make a difference in the lives of the many families staying at the Safe Home by raising funds to buy much-needed perishable items used on a daily basis, such as milk, bread and eggs,” said Jamie Winters, WRCNM Safe Home Coordinator. Last year, the Safe Home provided survivors and their children with 1,952 nights of shelter, more than 5,800 meals and all their daily needs at no cost.
The Oleson Foundation, a foundation designed to continually perform good works in Northwestern Lower Michigan, will match the first $1,000 in donations.
The Dollar Drive will take place at Oleson’s Food Stores at 2000 US-31 North in Petoskey, and 112 Antrim Street in Charlevoix. Lite 96.3 will also hold a non-perishable food and supply drive at the Petoskey Oleson’s store from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 20.
