Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) Board Members support and embody the organization’s mission and advocate for our cause. They act in the best interest of the agency and help steer it toward a sustainable future through sound ethical, legal and financial governance. They ensure there will be adequate resources to keep our mission flame burning brightly for many years to come.

We thank the dedicated, outgoing Board Members who have served two 3-year terms, Robin Jordan and Beth Simmons. We also welcome incoming members Laura Dinon and Claire Forster.

We thank all Board Members for their compassion, creativity, kindness, integrity and leadership. We appreciate their support and dedication to WRCNM’s mission and to those who rely on our services.

Incoming Board Members:

Laura Dinon, Attorney
Laura is senior attorney representing employers in all aspects of labor and employment law with Plunkett Cooney. She is a frequent presenter for Northern Michigan Society for Human Resource Management (NMSHRM), Northern Physician’s Organization (NPO) and Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce on various employment topics.

Laura has served on numerous local boards, such as Char-Em United Way, Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce, St. Francis Xavier School and she is completing her term as secretary for Northern Michigan Society for Human Resource Management and will stay on as an at-large board member.

Laura furthered her interest in social justice during college with a major in justice, morality and constitutional democracy. She looks forward to being part of a group that is supportive of the employees who work to carry out the WRCNM mission.

Claire Forster, Attorney
Claire is an attorney with Access Law focused on estate planning and administration. She decided to go to law school because she knew that understanding the law would give her powerful tools to help community members. She has provided volunteer services to Pellston Board of Education, Manna Food Project and as a member of the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee.

Claire has seen WRCNM’s positive impact on the lives of northern Michigan women and children. She is passionate about social justice and increasing awareness and empathy across different racial, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Serving on WRCNM’s board is a way for Claire to continue her commitment to systemic changes that address social justice and equality, and also acknowledge the vast differences in people’s experiences.

Outgoing Board Members:

Robin Jordan, Certified Nurse Midwife, PhD, FACNM and Professor
Robin completed six years on the board and served on the governance, long range planning, donor development/nominating and personnel committees, as well as chair of the governance committee. This was Robin’s second time on the board, having served previously from 1984-86. Robin’s contributions and knowledge of the agency and issues related to our work were highly valuable.

Beth Simmons, Insurance Claims Manager
Beth completed six years on the board and served on the executive committee as secretary, vice-president and president, as well as on the finance, donor development/nominating and governance committees. Beth’s leadership and creative problem-solving were very much appreciated during her time on the board.
