Pathways to Possibilities: Annual Report 2019-20

Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan creates pathways to safety, respect, hope, and opportunity through programs centered in safe housing, counseling, advocacy, education, and justice. We walk alongside survivors on their journey to a life free of violence.
The 2019-20 fiscal year reminded us that life’s path can change in an instant. We remained focus on our mission and stayed the course during the challenging and uncertain days and months of the pandemic. The words of Martin Luther King, Jr., certainly applied, “If you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t walk run, then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl, but by all means keep moving.” Small steps along our path enabled us to continue vital services for adult and child survivors of abuse and assault. Programs to support families that help improve their lives and advance them on their life journey continued without shutting down.
Our resilience was tested, yet we were able to persevere and focus on assisting people in crisis situations, providing needed advocacy and counseling and nurturing the health and well-being of those who reached out to us for support.
This year, the path forward was not a lonely one. We were joined by generous and compassionate donors who helped ensure the continuatioin of our vital work. Community partners worked with us to lift up others and each other to create a stronger, resilient place to live, work and play. Dedicated staff and volunteers kept the agency’s mission fire burning brightly. Most importantly, we walked with survivors on their courageous journey of healing, hope and well-being.
