Women Can/Women Do fundraising luncheons are held throughout the summer in four of the five counties served by Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) to support a myriad of services for women, children and families. The first luncheon of the year takes place at Castle Farms in Charlevoix from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday June 13.
“Women Can/Women Do fundraising luncheons have been our most successful, ongoing fundraiser to help support Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan services,” said Gail Kloss, the nonprofit organization’s executive director. Some of the programs funded include domestic abuse and sexual assault services, child abuse and child sexual assault services, free community playgroups, education and employment services, counseling, a 24-hour crisis and information line and the Safe Home shelter.
Women Can/Women Do is made possible with the help of many volunteers, including committee members who help plan the event and organize the silent auction, table designers who create elaborate and unique themes for each table and table captains who reach out to friends, family and business associates to fill seats at their table.
Local businesses that have volunteered to design a table, to date, include: A Touch of Spring and Other Things, Beaver Island Boat Company, Belvedere Golf Club Buddies, Castle Farms, Charlevoix Area Garden Club, Charlevoix Cinema III, Charlevoix Circle of Arts, Christ Episcopal Church, Deer Creek Junk, Elements Gallery, Gold Mine Resale Shop, Harwood Gold Café, Hearts to Holly Quilt Shop, Hestia Women’s Giving Circle, Irish Boat Shop, Kilwin’s of Charlevoix, L.
