Jessilyn and Matt Norcross, owners of McLean and Eakin Booksellers, kick off ‘The Giving Tree’ benefit during Petoskey’s Holiday Open House, December 4. Also during Open House, the store welcomes back teachers from Petoskey High School English department who will write customized poems for a donation. Both activities support domestic abuse survivors and their children utilizing services at the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan’s Safe Home.

McLean and Eakin Booksellers is hosting “The Giving Tree” benefit to support domestic abuse survivors and their children residing at the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan’s (WRCNM) Safe Home. The Giving Tree benefit begins the night of Petoskey’s downtown Open House, December 4, and continues through Christmas.

The Giving Tree is decorated with ornaments listing ages of children at the Safe Home. Shoppers may select an ornament off the tree which will help guide them in their purchase of an age-appropriate book or gift to donate and place under the tree. Gifts will be shared with families utilizing Safe Home services.

As part of McLean and Eakin’s Open House festivities, members of the Petoskey High School English department, and friends, will write customized poems on any topic for a donation. All proceeds will be donated to the WRCNM Safe Home. This is the third year the teachers have provided this program, which has been popular with holiday shoppers.
