Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) is seeking Tribute award nominations from community members to help celebrate extraordinary individuals making a positive difference in Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet and Otsego counties; the organization’s service area. The nomination deadline is Friday, September 23.

Tribute began nearly a decade ago as a community recognition event and a Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan fundraiser.  The event was paused for the past two years due to the pandemic. WRCNM Executive Director Gail Kloss, is looking forward to hosting the special event again this year.

“What we love about this event is that it highlights local people who are working at the community level to share and spread kindness, compassion, dignity and generosity,” said Gail Kloss, WRCNM Executive Director.  “No matter if their efforts are well-known or relatively unknown, they improve people’s lives and make this area a better place to live, work and play.”

Kloss stressed the importance of nominations submitted by community members. “What we have found over the years is that there are many people who may be doing fantastic work in a quiet way. Tribute provides an opportunity to hear and share their unique stories and allows their kindness and contributions to be known throughout the community,” said Kloss.

“An attendee from a past year described the event as ‘informative, inspiring and just about perfect’, and I totally agree,” said Kloss. “Tribute is one of my favorite events because it provides a feeling of genuine warmth and appreciation for the people who make this area special – at the end of the evening you leave feeling uplifted.”

WRCNM is reaching out to community members to nominate individuals in the following categories:

Advocacy: a woman whose bold advocacy for a population or a cause has resulted in increased community awareness and action on issues of social concern.

Business/Profession: a woman who has exhibited superior ability/accomplishment in a company, business, organization or association.

Community Service: a woman who has shown outstanding achievement as a volunteer to better the community.

Pinnacle: a woman who has dedicated a lifetime of service and provided meaningful, influential contributions that have made a positive difference in her community.

Man of Action: a man whose service and actions have demonstrated a commitment to the well-being of women.

Youth: a young woman, 21 or younger, who has demonstrated exceptional character and accomplishments to better herself, school and the community.

Tribute nomination forms are available on WRCNM’s website.  Nomination deadline is 5pm, Friday, September 23, 2022. There is no nomination fee.
